How it works

From consultation to evidence package

Seniorenschutzengel is a service, not a box from the electronics store. Every step is built so that your parents keep their dignity, the carer is treated fairly and the recordings are worth something when it matters.

  1. Consultation at your parents' home

We come to the flat, usually together with you. We look at where daily life happens, where valuables and medication are kept and where the carer lives. The result is a plan: three camera positions, two protected zones, and a list of rooms that stay free.

In the same visit we talk to the carer. She receives the information sheet in her language and from that moment knows exactly what is recorded and what is not.

  2. Installed in one morning

An electrician runs the cables along the ceiling line, in ducts painted to match the wall. Three white ceiling cameras go into the hallway, living room and kitchen. The hub, a compact device, sits by the router: visible on a shelf or hidden in a cupboard. No internet in the flat? That is fine, the hub brings its own connection.

At the end the sign goes on the front door, and we show you the app.

  3. Record, seal, delete

The hub detects people, not faces. Everyday recordings are deleted automatically after 72 hours. If something happens in a protected zone, for example at the cabinet or the medicine cupboard, the clip is sent encrypted to servers in Austria and stored there sealed.

Sealed means: nobody can view the recording. Not us, not the family, not the carer. There is no live image.

  4. The daily summary

Every evening you see in the app whether the day was quiet: how many events there were, whether they all fell within care hours, whether anyone was in a protected zone. No video, at most one still image. If the living room stays empty for hours when your mother should be there, you get a message straight away.

  5. If something happens

If something is missing, you report an incident in the app: what is missing, since when. You choose the period, and only that period is unsealed. Reason, time and person are logged, and the carer is informed. You receive the recordings as an evidence package with timestamps and checksums, ready for the police or a lawyer.

  6. Operation you never notice

We monitor around the clock whether the hub is running, whether every camera delivers an image and whether the connection is up. Only that, never the images. If something fails, we take care of it, usually before you notice. If the hub is offline for longer, we let you know.

What the flat looks like

A typical flat with three cameras. The bedroom, the bathroom and the carer's room stay completely free. Cables run along the ceiling line to the hub in the hallway.

Exactly where the cameras go is decided together during the consultation.

What we do

  • Detect people and seal events in protected zones
  • Delete everyday recordings after 72 hours
  • Log every access and inform the carer
  • Monitor the equipment: hub, cameras, connection
  • Produce evidence packages with timestamps and checksums

What we never do

  • Record audio. Microphones are switched off.
  • Recognise faces or match people biometrically
  • Put cameras in the bedroom, bathroom or carer's room
  • Show live images, not even to the family
  • View recordings. Our staff technically cannot.

The hub

Everything that is not a camera sits inside one enclosure: the small computer that analyses the images, the power supply for the cameras, its own mobile connection and a battery for the moment someone pulls the plug. On the outside an unobtrusive, compact device with one cable and one point of light, which can stand visibly on a shelf or disappear into a cupboard.

If you want more: on request we design an enclosure in oak or coated steel to suit your parents' flat, as in the picture.

If the hub is cut off from power, it keeps running, uploads the last recordings and reports the event. That is why it has a battery.

The camera

A small, flat, white ceiling camera, mounted next to the cornice where it overlooks the room without dominating it. No visible LEDs, no panning, no microphone. It sees people, not faces, and it talks to nobody except the hub.

After a week nobody notices it any more. That is the intention.
