Accessibility statement

This website is for families, for older people and for carers whose first language is not German. It should be readable and usable by all of them.

What we have done

  • Large, legible type. The body typeface was designed for people with low vision. At the top of every page you can enlarge the text in three steps, and the setting is remembered.
  • High contrast. Text and background meet the WCAG 2.2 contrast requirements at level AA, most combinations also AAA.
  • Full keyboard operation. All links, buttons, expandable sections and form fields can be reached with the Tab key, including in Safari, and the focus is clearly visible.
  • Skip link and clear structure. A link to the content at the top of the page, headings in a sensible order, landmarks for screen readers.
  • No motion, no autoplay. Nothing blinks, nothing runs by itself.
  • Multilingual. German and English, with the information for carers additionally in Slovak, Romanian and Polish, each with correct language markup.
  • Zoom. The page remains usable up to 400 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling.

Known limitations

Every photograph has a text description. The photographs are AI-generated and labelled as such on the image; the label is also part of the alternative text. The floor plan on the "How it works" page is also described in the text.
